Today the sun shined down from blue skies all day long. After a couple of months with record breaking amounts of rain and dreary weather, today signaled spring was coming. Went for a walk today with my girlfriend to enjoy the nice weather. Though there was people out and about, it wasn’t the amount I had expected, especially with the weather we were having.
However, it was also the day we put down literal concrete blocks on most of our border crossings, granting access only to those with commendable purpose. Or to put it another way: You need a damn good excuse to enter Denmark for the next month. That is, unless you’re a truck driver entering with food and medicine. We’re not total idiots.
It has also been known that the decision to close the border is a political decision and not by recommendation of our Health Ministry.
Kinda interesting. A side-effect, is that we’re getting some flack for it from the rest of the world. Seems mostly due to which approach you take in battling the virus. Do you want to contain it or just focus on damage control?
In other parts of the world, Spain is declaring a national lockdown, telling people they can only go out if they need to buy food, work or for emergencies. Drastic times calls for drastic measures.
I wouldn’t be surprised if is something our government is also considering doing the same.
Italy is spiraling more and more out of control and the Chinese propaganda machine is going into overdrive with stories about donations, teams being sent out to help and so on. However, I’m having a hard time trusting anything coming out from China, given their history.
This is part of a series of posts I’ve written about the Corona virus and how it have impacted our society. Equal parts news, observations and thoughts. See the rest of the posts here.
